They say that one old woman had three daughters. One day the girls and their uncle agreed to go and collect the fruits of the miriti palm tree. But Zhurupari found out about their agreement, killed his uncle on the way and at dawn he himself came to the appointed place in his image.

The girls did not notice the deception and went with him into the forest. They walked for quite some time when one of the sisters asked how far it was to the palm grove. Zhurupari replied that she was already very close.

But the grove was not visible, and they kept walking and walking, then another girl asked how long it would take to walk, and Zhurupari again answered that the grove was already nearby.

When it was completely dawn, they approached the cave where Zhurupari lived, and then one of the girls, looking at her uncle’s feet, screamed:

– It’s Zhurupari himself! This is Zhurupari! But the sisters could no longer escape. When they entered the house of Zhurupari, he said:

- Here we are.

He said and left, leaving the parrot to guard the captives so that they would not escape.

Zhurupari returned at night and ordered his elder sister to bring him fire to the hammock where he slept. She brought fire, and the evil spirit grabbed the girl and began to suck blood from her, just like a vampire. At dawn, Zhurupari went into the forest again.

As soon as he was out the door, the girls rushed to the hammock to see what happened to their sister, who spent the night with Zhurupari, but they found only gnawed bones there.

The next night, Zhurupari ordered the middle sister to bring fire and also devoured her.

When in the morning he went into the forest again, the younger sister looked into the hammock, but only found gnawed bones. Crying, she lay down in a hammock next to the remains of her sisters and then the girl saw a Guarauna flamingo flying past and shouted to him:

- Ah, Guarauna! If you were a person, you would probably help me return home!

After some time, Guarauna, who turned into a young man, came up to her and ordered her to quickly get ready and take with her the bones of her sisters, some ashes and some salt. He also ordered her to steal the milonga - the Zhurupari amulet.

The girl took everything he said, and they set off on their way. But before they had time to leave the cave, the parrot began to scream:

- Master, your dinner was stolen by a flamingo! Hearing this, Zhurupari gave chase, shouting:

- Flamingo! Return what was stolen!

When the fugitives saw that Zhurupari was catching up with them, the bird youth told his younger sister to throw the bones behind his back, and immediately a wall of smoke stood behind them, she fenced them off from Zhurupari, and he fell behind a little.

They had been running for quite some time when they heard again:

- Flamingo! Give me back my amulet!

Then the flamingo ordered the girl to burn the ashes and salt, and immediately a tall thorny bush grew behind them. While Zhurupari was making his way through the thorns, they again managed to get far ahead of him. Only when the fugitives were already very close to the girl’s house, they heard again:

- Flamingo! Give me my amulet!

Then the young man ordered the salt, ashes and remains of bones to be burned together. And behind them a wide river spilled out, which Zhurupari could not cross. So they got home, the mother was very glad that at least one of her daughters was alive, because she had decided that they had all died.

[This legend confuses the spirit of Jurupari with Curupira, whose legs are twisted and therefore cannot cross the river.]
