The Christian read one sentence and looked at the Master. The master smiled and said:
“The one who said these words was truly enlightened.
The Christian liked this. He continued reading. The master interrupted him and said:
“Only the Savior of mankind could say that.”
The Christian was delighted. He read to the end. The master summed it up:
- This is the sermon of a truly Divine man.
The Christian's joy knew no end. He left with deep confidence that next time he would convince the Master to accept Christianity.
On his way home, Jesus appeared to him standing at the edge of the road.
“Lord,” exclaimed the Christian, “I forced that man to recognize your divine nature!”
Jesus smiled and said:
“Did you get any benefit from it other than inflating your religious ego?”
