There was a man, and he had a dog. While the dog was young, it guarded its owner, but when it grew old, its owner drove it out of the yard. She wandered around the steppe, caught mice, and ate whatever she came across.
One night a wolf met a dog and said:
-Where are you going, dog?
- Yes, while I was young, the owner loved me, because I looked after his household, but when I got old, he drove me out of the yard. The wolf asks:
“Dog, maybe you want to eat?” “I do,” he says. The wolf says: “Come on, I’ll feed you.”
Went. They were walking along the steppe, the wolf spotted the sheep, and sent a dog:
“Go,” he says, “see what’s grazing there?”
The dog went, came back and said:
- Sheep. - May they die. If we fill our teeth with wool and don’t eat enough, we’ll remain hungry. Let's move on.
They were coming, the wolf saw geese.
“Go ahead,” he says, “and look, dog, what’s grazing there?”
The dog went, looked, came back and said:
- Geese. - May they die. Let's stuff our teeth with feathers and not get enough. Let's go further, he says.
They move on. A wolf sees a horse grazing.
“Go,” he says, “dog, look what’s grazing there?”
The dog comes running and says:
“Horse.” “Well, this will be ours,” says the wolf. We approached this horse. The wolf digs the ground like this and drives himself into a rage. Then he says:
- Look, dog, is my tail shaking? The dog looked. “It’s shaking,” he said. “Now look,” says the wolf, “are my eyes numb?” “They’re numb,” says the dog.
Then the wolf rushes, grabs the horse by the mane, tears it apart, and eats it together with the dog. The young wolf soon ate his fill, but the old dog gnaws and gnaws and won’t eat anything. The dogs came running and drove the wolf away.
A dog is walking and along the road he finds a cat just as old as her - he is catching mice in the steppe.
“Hello,” says the cat! Where are you going? - Yes, I’m just wandering around. While I was young, I worked for the owner, catching mice, but now I’m old, I don’t see mice, the owner didn’t like me, doesn’t let me eat, he drove me out of the yard, so I wander around.
The dog says:
- Well, let's go, brother cat, I'll feed you.
The two of them were walking, the dog saw the sheep, and sent the cat:
“Run,” he says, “brother, look who’s grazing there?”
The cat ran, looked and said:
- Sheep. - Damn them! Let's stuff our teeth with wool and not eat enough. Let's move on. They're coming. The dog saw the geese. “Go,” he said, “look who is grazing?”
The cat ran, looked, and said:
- Geese. - Damn them! Let's stuff our teeth with feathers and not get enough.
They moved on. They're coming. The dog saw the horse.
“Run,” the dog says to the cat, “look who’s grazing?”
The cat went and looked and said:
“Horse.” “Well, this will be ours,” says the dog, “we’ll eat plenty.”
The dog began to eat the earth, got angry and said:
“And look, cat, is my tail shaking?” “No,” the cat answers.
The dog again scratches the ground to get angry, asks again:
- Well, are you shaking already? Say it's shaking. The cat looked and said: “It started to shake a little.” “Now let’s shake the damn horse!” - says the dog. And let the dog rake the earth, asks the cat: “And look, brother, my eyes have become sleepy?” And the cat says: - No. - Eh, you're lying! Say: you've become dazed! - the dog asks. Then the dog will get angry and jump on the horse! And how the horse will give her a hoof on the head! The dog fell and his eyes popped out. And the cat ran up and said:
- Oh, brother, how your eyes look so sleepy!..
