Wolf and donkey

Wolf and donkey
Enlight

Everyone has heard that the wolf is cunning and treacherous.

A wolf once came to a donkey grazing in the field and said:

- My friend, are you healthy? What are you doing here?

The donkey answers:

“I’m grateful for your kind question, but I’m not very healthy, I’m dragging one leg after another, I can’t even pluck the grass.”

And that’s good for the wolf. He approaches quietly and asks again in a soft voice:

- My friend, what’s your name?

The donkey, although a fool, sometimes common sense awakens even in stupidity, answers:

- Brother wolf! Sorry, I can’t tell you this - I forgot, because I left my father and mother a long time ago. I just remember that they wrote my name on the hoof of my hind leg. If you want to know, read it - I will raise your hoof higher.

The wolf, slyly, although he knew the name of the donkey, began to take a closer look at what was written on the hoof. The donkey hit him in the forehead, so hard that he lost his brains.

The cunning fox, who stood aside and knew everything, came to the wolf and said:

- Well, have you eaten? So save the leftovers for tomorrow!

People who plot against others fall into their own snares, and then the words of the prophets are fulfilled: if you dig a hole for someone else, you yourself will fall into it.
