- Why did you pretend to be deaf, teacher? - they asked.
“Being deaf, I have no need to listen to your praises and flattery,” answered the Sufi. -Who would waste eloquence on a deaf person? But I know perfectly well how you really feel about me. After all, you weren’t shy about saying whatever you thought.
