There lived two brothers - the Elder Sechko (January), the Younger Sechko (February) and their sister Baba Marta (March).
And they had a vineyard. They collected grapes and made wine, and poured it into three barrels - one for each.
The elder Sechko spent whole days walking and wandering through the forests and fields, the wind knocked him off his feet, the frost stung his face, and the snow covered his path. In the evening he returned home tired and sat down to eat. Yes, as usual, I poured myself a glass of wine. And where there is one glass, there are two, and after the second there is a third. Soon he finished all the wine from his barrel.
Junior Sechko also has more than enough work. He went to the river - he broke the ice and freed the river water. I also went to the forest - cleared snow from trees, helped birds build nests. All day in worries, in the evening I collapsed. He sat down at the table for dinner, ate and drank wine. Hop - a glass of wine, hop - a second, and where there is a second, there is a third. Soon his barrel of wine was empty.
From then on, they went to weddings, christenings, and just to visit empty-handed and burned with shame that they didn’t have wine as a gift.
But Baba Martha’s wine stood in the basement in an unopened barrel - completely intact. And so the brothers decided to open Baba Martha’s barrel and drink wine from it. No sooner said than done. In the morning one brother will drink a glass, in the afternoon the other brother will also pour wine into his cup, and so the wine in the third barrel runs out.
Grandma Martha came, rolled up her sleeves, and began to prepare for the arrival of spring. She was busy doing housework, got tired, and sat down to rest and have dinner. I ate and remembered my wine and decided to drink a glass.
She came to her barrel - and what did she see? There's not a drop in it! And it’s been empty for a long time – it’s even dried out.
Then Grandma Martha realized that her brothers and sisters had been robbed. She got angry, started cursing, and got so angry - and you can’t stop her. She screamed, swore, spat, cursed, and then sat down exhausted and began to cry, tears flowed from her eyes like a river.
She cried and cried, but then she was comforted. I thought:
- Eh, who drank it, it was my own brothers who drank it, not some strangers. And I was going to treat them anyway!
She said so and smiled. Her face lit up, all her grief went away.
But still there was resentment in her soul that her brothers had deceived her and deprived her of wine. And every time she remembers this, she starts to get angry and cry again. But her anger quickly passes, she waves her hand and laughs again.
