The wolf decided to dig up the ground and plant it with grapes, and he called the fox and the hare to help. He prepared a delicious treat for his assistants: a full pot of honey.

All three worked diligently. Yes, the fox was impatient and wanted to feast on honey. She turned to the nearest vine and screamed:

- Hey, hey!

-Who is that there? - ask the wolf and the hare.

- And you know, they’re calling me for a christening! - the fox came up with the idea.

- So go, go! - says the wolf.

“Hurry up and get back to work,” added the hare.

And the fox went straight to the bush where the wolf hid the pot of honey. She drank some sweet honey and returned.

- Well, what did you name the baby? - the wolf asked curiously.

“A little cob,” the fox giggled.

- How were the guests treated, godfather? - asked the hare.

- To the glory! - answered the fox.

We got to work. Another time the fox turned to the vine and screamed:

- Hey! Hey!

-Who is that there? - ask the wolf and the hare.

“They’re calling for christenings,” the fox answers.

“Then go,” the wolf released her.

“Come back quickly,” added the hare. The fox left. And when she returned, the wolf and the hare began to ask what the baby was named, and she answered:

- Seredyshek!

The same thing happened the third time. The fox quit her job and finished with the honey. The wolf and the hare got tired, lay down to rest, and fell asleep. A cunning fox crept up to them and smeared the hare's tail with honey. And then he screams:

- Hey, sleepyheads, you've got enough sleep!

- Oh, are you here already? Well, what did you call it? - the wolf yawned.

- Scratch! - the fox giggled.

— How were the guests treated? - asked the hare.

- To the glory! - The fox licks her lips. - And you, kumanek, have you thought about treating us to lunch? - she turned to the wolf.

“But it’s true,” the wolf nodded. - It’s already noon, time for lunch.

He rushed to the bush where he hid the pot of honey, and lo and behold, the pot was empty. The wolf returned to his assistants and shouted:

- Someone ate the honey! If I find the thief, I'll break his neck! And the fox says:

- While you, kumanek, were sleeping, the hare licked all the honey.

- I didn’t eat it! - the hare began to defend himself.

- Don't deny it! If you haven't eaten, then why is your tail covered in honey?

Then the wolf growled and rushed towards the hare to wring his neck. The hare took off running, only his heels sparkled. The wolf is behind him. He caught the hare by the tail and bit it off, but he was unable to wring his neck. Since then the hare has been short.
