One day Mam wanted to help a man.
He said that he would give him a tapir so that he could breed the herd, and ordered him to take a rope to tie the animal. But instead of a rope, the man took a vine and tied the tapir with it. He, of course, tore the vine and ran away.
Then Mam gave him peccaries so that he could have a whole herd. And he ordered their legs to be tied with rope.
But the man again tied the animals with a vine, and they ran away again. Then Mam gave him a rope to tie the deer. But the man acted in his own way here too. He tied it by the tail, the tail came off and the deer ran away. That's why deer don't have a tail.
Then Mam said to the man:
“Now I can’t help you with anything, since you allowed all the animals to escape, but I will teach you to pray and burn incense to the Morning Star, and then you can always have a lot of game.”
Luckily, there was another person there who managed to connect all these animals the way they should have been done - and that's why there are pets in the world. These were the first two men, and all Indians descended from them. But some descended from the first and therefore do not have domestic animals. Others descend from the second and managed to acquire herds of animals.
