When the sun begins to set, it seems to be waiting for something, slowly, and a little later it slowly sets every evening. Why is this so?
From a very young age, Satanay was a skilled needlewoman. She was so agile that she sewed one good thing a day. No woman could sew better than her.
And among the sleds there was one very skillful guy who made saddles better than anyone else. He made one saddle a day.
All the Narts knew Satanai’s courage. One day, when Satanay was sewing a princely dress, that guy came to her and said: Let's compete to see which of us sews better.
Princess Satanay answered him: I sew one dress a day. And the guy answered: And I make one saddle every day.
Both decided to compete. The next day, in the morning, as soon as the sun rose, everyone got down to their business. Without yielding to each other, they tried very hard. Satanay's hand worked so quickly that the needle got hot and left holes in some places on the dress, but she did not pay attention to this and worked quickly.
In the evening, when the sun began to set, the guy, deciding that he had almost finished the saddle, got ready to go to her. But Princess Satanay could not finish the dress as well as him. She was afraid that she wouldn't be able to finish before sunset. Then she turned to the sun and asked:
- Oh, venerable sun, born for our joy, please wait for the sake of my honor!
The sun did not set immediately, but waited a little, watching Satanai. And Satanay, without wasting any time, finished her dress and put it on herself: Do you like it? – she asked. Walking back and forth in it, I showed it to the guy. The guy liked the dress. He was surprised at Satanai’s agility and praised the princess, saying: They say about such women: a jack of all trades.
The old people say that since then it has become a custom: in the evening, when the sun begins to set, it slowly sets, after waiting a little.
