They fell to the ground and began to learn to fly. Some birds learned to fly very quickly, others never learned. The laughing bird Kookaburra laughed a lot at such losers, especially at the cassowary, which did not yet have a blue head.
And the cassowary got angry. He was angry that he was an ugly gray color, not as bright as a parrot, angry that he was dumber than an owl, angry that he could not fly and that the Kookaburra laughing bird laughed at him when he tried to learn it.
The cassowary hated all birds and decided to set fire to the forest in which they lived.
He went to the fire tree, brought a burning brand from there and set the forest on fire.
Those birds that learned to fly well flew far, far away and returned only when the fire went out.
But many, many birds did not yet know how to fly. Fleeing from the flames, they rushed into the water of rivers, seas and lakes.
And a miracle happened. Those birds turned into fish. That is why there are different fish - large and small, round and flat, multi-colored, golden and colorless, beautiful and ugly. These are all former birds, and each fish is a little like the bird from which it came.
And the cassowary was punished for his villainy; God Baiame, the creator of all life on earth, made the cassowary’s head turn blue. And now not only the laughing bird Kookaburra laughs at the cassowary, but also all the birds and animals.
