This happened a long time ago, when our grandfathers' grandfathers were little boys, and our grandmothers' grandmothers were little girls. Previously, geese were only white, and there was not a single motley goose.
Motley geese appeared after the atrocities of one man named Kotkhoz-Kutui (terrible, disgusting Kutui).
Kotkhoz-Kutui kidnapped children and sold them far away, across the sea and ocean, to terrible cannibals. One day he kidnapped a girl, Halima. There was no one more beautiful than Halima, but she was born unlucky.
He kidnapped Halima Kotkhoz-Kutui, locked her in a cage, and he went off to kidnap other children. When Kotkhoz-Kutui left, he placed white magic stones near the cage; These stones guarded the cage, and Kotkhoz-Kutui, relying on them, calmly went off to kidnap other children.
The white stones lay calm. If any child somehow managed to get out of the cage, then the stones saw it all. They rushed to the little fugitive or fugitive, glued themselves to their feet and did not let the captive go anywhere. The fugitives could neither scream, nor run, nor take a step.
Kotkhoz-Kutui was gone for weeks, and sometimes for months.
The children, locked in the cage, ate only grains, picking them up from the floor, and drank water from a tub placed right there.
Halima sits for a week, then sits for another. And no one knows where she is. The poor thing is crying and grieving. Halima lost weight and became like a piece of wood. Her rosy cheeks turned yellow. He thinks and can’t figure out how to escape from Kotkhoz-Kutuyeva prison. No, poor Halima cannot escape from here! The cage walls are thick and the ceiling is high. Only under the door there is a narrow gap through which light penetrates, but only a small gosling can crawl through this gap.
Halima thinks sadly: “Oh, why am I not a little gosling - I wish I could crawl through this crack!” Halima cries bitterly. And suddenly it began to shrink, become smaller and smaller, and finally became no more than a yellow gosling hatching from an egg. And then Halima turned into a gosling: instead of legs she had paws, and instead of hands she had wings. Halima joyfully waved her short wings, which were not yet strong enough, looked into the crack under the door and crawled out of the cage.
The white stones saw a little gosling, but none of them knew that it was Halima. “Where does this gosling come from?” the stones were surprised and began to look after him.
The gosling moves further and further away from the cage. The white stones also turn into goslings and chase the Halima gosling.
Now the little gosling, Halima, has reached the river. Geese with their broods were grazing on the shore. Halima the gosling stuck to one flock of geese, but the little goslings from this flock began to peck at the unfamiliar Halima gosling. Halima did not fight with them or peck at them, but only tried to dodge them and run away. Finally she reached the river, threw herself into the water and swam away from the shore, and the angry goslings remained on the shore with their mother goose.
The white gosling stones lost sight of Halima and returned to their place, turning back into stones.
But Halima could no longer accept her former appearance and forever remained a goose. The plumage on it was not white, but motley. Those places on her body where the evil geese pecked at her remained dark. When she herself became a mother goose, her goslings grew up colorful.
Since then, motley geese have bred in the world.
