They were smart, these spirits. And they were not offended when people visited them. People traded with spirits, and very profitably. You nod at the thing that you liked, name the price, and if the spirit agrees, the thing rose into the air by itself and headed towards the person. And if the spirit was not satisfied with the price, then the thing remained motionless.
One day while parked, an angry man pulled out a knife and exclaimed:
– Why are these creatures following us on our heels?
And he threw the knife straight into the icy wall of the snowy house. The knife became stained with blood, and the spirits disappeared at that very moment.
Never again have people seen a snow house being built by itself near their camp site. They lost their silent invisible companions forever.
