They also decided to try their luck and all three appeared before the khan. “You begin,” the khan said to his elder brother. “Even the village boys know about my laziness,” the elder brother began, “if a fly gets into the soup, I don’t throw it away.” - Drive away this fool! - the khan shouted. “Out of laziness, I don’t avoid puddles and splash straight through the mud,” said the middle brother when it was his turn. The khan also did not like this answer and ordered the middle brother to be thoroughly beaten with sticks. “Let’s listen to you,” he turned to his younger brother. But he was silent, although the khan repeated the order several times: “This man is worthy of my daughter’s hand!” - the khan exclaimed joyfully. “He doesn’t even open his mouth out of laziness!” Khan fulfilled his promise, and the shepherd’s son lived happily with a beautiful wife.
