Who is more cowardly than the hare?

Who is more cowardly than the hare?

One day the hare became disgusted with life. And how can he not be disgusted when everyone is chasing him? During the day, hunters chase with dogs, at night they have to hide from wolves, foxes and other animals. And the eagle and the hawk are looking from above, as if to grab it. Even the cat tries to cling to the hare.

“My life is such a hard one,” the hare laments. “Everyone is chasing me, everyone is offending me. Why should I, poor thing, live in this world? I’d rather go to the lake and drown myself.”

The hare went to the lake to kill himself. And on the shore of the lake there were many frogs. Like the hare, they lived in fear, everyone looked around - as if the enemy would sneak up. The frogs saw the hare and got scared: what kind of monster had appeared? Plop! - and jumped one after another into the water. The hare saw that the frogs were running away from him, and did not drown himself.

- That's great! – he was delighted. - After all, they were the ones who ran away from me! Why should I grieve? Apparently, the frogs have an even worse life than me. There are so many of them, but they were afraid of one hare.

The hare became amused, and he laughed so hard that his lip burst.

Since then, the hare has a split lip, and he himself no longer curses his life and does not think about drowning.
