There lived a king for whom the thought that someone could be higher than him was intolerable. One day he called his ministers and asked them:
- Who is greater - me or God? The ministers trembled with fear and asked
respite to think. All of them were middle-aged, none of them wanted to be persecuted. But they were worthy people and did not want to lie.
“Leave the matter to me, I will find something to answer the sovereign,” said the oldest minister.
The next day the whole courtyard gathered. The old minister also came. He bowed low to the king and said:
“Oh, sir, you are undoubtedly greater than God.”
The king twirled his long mustache and raised his head proudly. And the old man continued:
“You are greater because you can expel us from your kingdom, but God cannot, because His Kingdom is all around, and there is nowhere to escape from Him.”
