When the earth turns to gold

Wang Xue-qin was a hardworking peasant. All year round, getting up just before dawn, he worked in his field. The neighbors dug up the ground once, and he did it twice, or even three. And although his field was small, it somehow fed the owner.

But Wang Xue-qin’s sons were not like their father: they loitered around all day, but did not want to work. Father more than once persuaded them to come to their senses, but they ignored his words and continued to be lazy. Concerns about them did not give Wang Xue-qin peace. What will these lazy people live on when he is gone?

And then Wang Xue-qin fell ill. A few days later his health deteriorated, and he realized that he would not recover. He called both sons and said to them:

- I'm afraid that my affairs are bad, children. I can't leave anything behind. True, on four mu (Mu is a measure of area equal to 0.07 hectares) of land on the eastern slope, some gold is buried. But to find it, you will have to dig deep and carefully into the ground.

And he died.

“If we find gold, we will live richly all our lives,” the brothers thought and decided to find the buried gold at all costs.

Having gone to the field, they plowed all the land, but did not find gold.

“We probably didn’t plow the ground very deeply,” said the elder brother.

And they plowed the field again, deeper, but again found nothing.

“We probably plowed too quickly and didn’t notice the gold,” the elder brother said again.

And the brothers plowed the field again and again, but still no gold was found.

- Apparently, our father deceived us! - decided the annoyed brothers.

But the soil in their field, after such careful cultivation, became very loose, and when the brothers sowed it, the crop sprang up perfectly. They harvested more from their four mu than others from eight. Only now did the brothers understand their father’s words.

From then on, they never messed around again.
