When donuts fell from the sky

Once upon a time there lived Juan the Fool with his wife Maria the cheat. Every day Juan went to the field to graze sheep, and his wife was happy about it.

One day, Fool Juan found a purse of gold coins. He opened it, saw the coins and said:

- Oh, come on! How many round pieces, but without a chain!

He returned home and said to his wife:

- Look, Maria, how many round stones I found on the mountain, but there is no chain.

Maria had her own mind and did not contradict her husband. She took the coins and said to the fool:

- Yes, these round pieces are good for nothing, you can’t even string them on a chain.

That same evening she baked a lot of donuts. I went up to the roof and threw them down the chimney. And Juan the Fool was warming himself by the fire. He sees donuts falling out. He took his hands full and went to look for his wife, shouting:

- Look, Maria, donuts are falling from the sky! Oh hail!

She came down from the roof and did not contradict her husband, let him eat his fill. And she went into the stall, threw a blanket over the feeding trough, put one candle to the left of the donkey, another to the right, and said to her husband, it’s time to give the donkey food. Juan entered the stall and immediately returned, shouting to his wife:

- Maria, our donkey is serving mass!

The next day she did not send her husband to the field: she would tell someone else about yesterday. She sent him to school to learn to read and write. And Juan keeps thinking about his sheep. He saw “b” and “a” in the ABC book and said:

- B - a, bah, the path led the sheep away!

He saw “b” and “e” and said:

“B—e, b—e, the sheep are walking along the path!”

His wife had to pick him up from school, and the next day Juan went back to the field. He meets a rider on the road, who asks him:

- Tell me, buddy, did you happen to find a wallet here?

“Of course, of course, I found it,” Juan answers.

- And what did you do with him?

“I took it home and gave it to Maria.” Only she said, those round pieces are not good for anything, you can’t even string them on a chain.

- Oh, that's it. You know, I would take a look at them. Won't you take me to your home?

Juan brought him. And he tells Maria to return the wallet, he supposedly dropped it. Maria in response:

- What kind of wallet? I don't know anything.

And Juan told her:

- How about it, Maria? Do you remember when you sent me to school back then?

The passerby was amazed that such a fool was going to school. And then I heard something different:

- Well, remember when donuts fell from the sky and our donkey served mass?

Here the rider says:

- Sorry, mistress, I shouldn’t have bothered you. And he went home, but the cheat Maria stayed with the money and bought her husband a flock of sheep, twice as large as before.
