One rich man had a daughter with a flat nose. Her father wanted to marry her off. Suitors began to come to the house, but when they saw her nose, they immediately left, although everyone was attracted by her wealth. The father, in despair, announced that he would give a lot of money to whoever marries his daughter. Somehow the groom was found and the wedding was celebrated. Both spouses were distinguished by piety, and after the wedding they made a number of pilgrimages and baths in sacred rivers and visited many temples.
One day they met a saint who told them that only the one who created this nose could make it normal. Although the newlyweds were rich, they were not happy. The young woman saw how people made fun of her nose. She invited her husband to go together to the Himalayas, where it was completely deserted and where she could spend a month praying to God. The husband agreed.
She had a great desire to have a beautiful nose, and, once in the Himalayas, she began to pray to God with great zeal. God appeared before her and asked what she desired. She asked for a beautiful big nose as a gift.
“So be it,” God said and bestowed His mercy on her.
As soon as God left, she looked at her face. Seeing the big nose, she realized that she had become even uglier than before. She began to pray earnestly again, and God appeared again and asked what she wanted this time. She said she didn't need such a big nose. God replied:
- So be it.
And she immediately discovered that her nose had completely disappeared.
