Then Veles taught people faith and wisdom (knowledge). He taught how to make sacrifices correctly, taught stellar wisdom, literacy, and gave the first calendar. He divided people into classes and gave the first laws.
And those who did not listen to him, did not want to study and work, Veles punished them: he would meet a lazy person, grab him by the arm or leg - and it would be good if he only threw him away, otherwise he could punish him even worse.
People began to complain to Amelfa. And Amelfa began to scold him. Veles didn’t like that zhurba. He gathered the soldiers and came to the brotherhood feast in the nearest village. The squad started drinking and going for walks. And then, as at a funeral feast, they began to compete in strength. At first it was a joke, but when they separated, they started a real massacre.
Veles wanted to break up the fighting, but then some guy walked in from his toes and hit Veles on the ear.
Oh, and Veles got angry! He called his squad together - mules, wolfhounds and other forest dwellers - and went to beat everyone who came to hand.
The men again ran to Amelfa to ask for protection, and she sent her youngest daughter, Altynka, to calm Veles. Altynushka ran to Veles and dragged him to his dear mother for trial, and she locked her son in the cellar.
And his squad was left without a leader. And the people pushed back the forest people and began to beat them. And Altynka saw it when she was walking on the water, and decided to release Veles. She ran and opened the cellar.
Veles jumped out into the wide yard, uprooted a hundred-year-old elm and ran to help the squad. He began to wave his elm tree, and the people obeyed him. They brought gold and silver to Veles.
