Once upon a time there lived a man, he had wheat

grain, and he was called Vaduaye.

He came to one old woman and said: “Great, auntie.”

- Great, Vaduaye.

- Please watch over my grain of wheat.

- Willingly. Put it over there, we will then put it into the bins along with our grain.

The next day Vaduaye came to the house of this good woman.

- Great, auntie.

- Great, Vaduaye.

- Did you hide my grain of wheat well?

- Oh, poor Vaduaye! I had a big problem: my chicken ate this grain for breakfast.

- I will complain about you to the court, auntie, I will complain to the court about you!

- No, no, there can be no discussion about this. Better take chicken. You will not lose money, this is a good hen.

Vaduaye took the chicken from the chicken coop and went to another peasant woman.

- Hello, auntie.

- Hello, Vaduaye.

-Will you look after my chicken?

- Okay, leave the chicken with us. I will put her in a chicken coop and look after her as if she were my own.

But the cow hit the chicken with her hoof and killed it. After some time, the owner of the chicken appears.

- Great, auntie.

- Great, Vaduaye.

-Did you look after my chicken well?

- Oh, my poor neighbor! This morning our cow kicked a chicken with her hoof and killed it.

- I will complain about you to the court, auntie, I will complain to the court about you!

“Leave me alone, Vaduaye, and rather than complain, take our cow.”

He stole a good milk cow - white with black spots, with thin shiny hair - and brought it to another woman's house.

- Great, auntie.

- Great, Vaduaye.

-Can you look after my cow?

“Well, I guess I’ll take a look.” Tie her not far away, we will put her in a stall with our cows.

When evening came, the maid took the stool and the milk pan and went to milk the cows, but the cow Vaduaye would not let her go, kicked and, kicking the maid very painfully, overturned the milk pan. The cowgirl got angry and so deftly threw the bench at the cow that she killed her on the spot.

The next day Vaduaye arrives.

- Great, auntie.

- Great, Vaduaye.

-Did you look after my cow well?

- Oh, my poor Vaduaye! Yesterday our maid wanted to milk your cow, but she got so angry with her that she threw a bench at her and killed her on the spot.

- I will complain about you to the court, auntie, I will complain to the court about you!

- You won’t do this, neighbor! It's better to take the maid.

Vaduyer put the girl in a bag and went to another woman; she was the maid's godmother, but Vaduye did not know this.

- Great, auntie.

- Great, Vaduaye.

“Can’t I leave my bag with you for now?”

- Please leave him outside the door, no one will touch him.

Vadouyer left. After a while the old woman, thinking that her maid was somewhere nearby, said:

- Jeannette, would you like to eat a bowl of soup? The maid did not hear, but the girl sitting in the bag answered for her:

- I would love to eat.

The old woman repeated her question twice, and each time she was answered by a voice coming out of the bag. She looked into it and, seeing her goddaughter, helped her get out, and instead put a large dog in the bag.

When Vaduye arrived, he said:

- Great, auntie.

- Great, Vaduaye.

-Have you been looking after my bag?

- Yes, here it is, you can take it.

He shouldered the bag, fully confident that a maid was sitting there. Walking away a little, he pulled the little thing away from the bag and said:

- Jeannette, come on, kiss me!

- Woof! Woof! - the dog snapped.

Vaduye was so frightened that he dropped the bag on the ground and ran as fast as he could.
