Two psychiatrists lived in the same house. Every evening they returned from their institutions and often went up together in the same elevator. The elevator operator was very intrigued by one thing that kept happening over and over again. The first psychiatrist, leaving the elevator, invariably turned and spat at the second. He smiled, calmly took his handkerchief out of his pocket, wiped his face, tie or coat. Sometimes the elevator operator even heard him chuckle contentedly.
He became more and more curious. One day he couldn't resist. Closing behind the first psychiatrist, he asked:
- For God's sake, doctor, tell me why your colleague constantly does this to you?
The second psychiatrist laughed and said:
- Oh, I don't know. Why should this bother me? This is his problem.
