Churka and Pigunaika lived in the same village. Churka was a quiet guy - he was silent more than he spoke. And his wife Pigunayka worked more with her tongue than with her hands. She even spoke in her sleep. He sleeps and sleeps, and then he starts mumbling, but very quickly: you can’t understand anything! Churka wakes up from her scream and pushes his wife in the side:

- Hey, wife, who are you talking to?

Pigunaika jumps up and rubs his eyes with his fist:

— I talk to smart people.

- But this is in a dream, wife!

“And it’s nice to talk to smart people even in your sleep.” It’s not for me to talk to you! In one year you will say two words, and then in the taiga.

Churka had three things to do: beat the beast, catch fish, and smoke a pipe. He did this well!.. He will go into the taiga to beat the beast - until his friends forcibly take Churka out of the taiga, he keeps chasing the beast. If he begins to catch fish, he will become so furious that he himself will get into the net if the fish are not there. And when Churka begins to smoke, the smoke comes out in clouds and rises like a pillar to the sky! If Churka smokes at home, people will come running from all over the village: where is the fire? They come running, and it’s Churka sitting on the threshold, smoking a pipe. And if smoke pours out in the taiga, they already know: it was Churka who set fire to his knee-thick pipe! How many times have they been mistaken - they mistook a forest fire for tobacco smoke from Churka’s pipe!

Pigunaika had three things to do: talk, sleep and solve dreams. She did this well!.. If she starts talking, she will start talking to everyone, her neighbors will hide under their bunks from her. The only salvation is to place the deaf grandmother Koinyt with Pigunayka. She sits, nods her head, as if agreeing... And if Pigunaika falls asleep, until she reviews all her dreams, no one will wake her up. Once, the neighbor boys carried her, sleeping, into the forest along with the bed; She woke up there, looked around, saw a forest; She says to herself, thinking that she is dreaming: “What a bad person I am! Why am I dreaming while sitting? I should lie down.” I went to bed and slept for another two weeks. The same guys had to drag her home. Well, Pigunayka will begin to unravel dreams - she will say such fears that women then fall off their bunks at night! They didn’t know whether what Pigunayka said would come true, and after her guesses, they trembled with small tremors for a week. No one knew how to solve dreams better than Pigunaika! One day she woke up. He lies there, silent, says nothing. I looked at Churka’s wife and got scared: why is my wife silent? Did something happen?

- What are you doing, Pigunaika? he asks.

“I saw a red berry in a dream,” says the wife. - To a quarrel...

- What are you, wife, why should we quarrel?

“This is a quarrel,” says Pigunaika. - The sign is correct. I really don’t know how to solve dreams!.. Do you remember, in a dream I saw a deer, but I didn’t say it because of the snowstorm... Didn’t it become a snowstorm after that?

Churka is silent, does not want to say that his wife saw the deer in a dream when the door was already covered with snow; When they woke up, they couldn’t open the door and sat at home with their wife for three days. On the third day, the wife saw a deer in a dream.

- Why are you silent? - says Pigunaika. - A red berry means a quarrel, I know that well.

“I won’t quarrel with you, Pigunaika,” Churka mutters.

And his wife is angry with him:

- How can you not, if I saw such a dream!

- Yes, because of what?

- You’ll find out why! Maybe you’ll remember how our fish went rotten when I lay down for a minute...

- Yes, that's true, wife. The fish is rotten. You slept for three days then. They woke us up forcibly when our bunks caught fire because they were left in the fireplace unattended...

- Yeah! - says Pigunaika. - So your wife can’t lie down? Everyone would follow you! That's what you are...

“Wife,” says Churka, why remember this matter? Well, the fish is rotten - so be it. Then I caught twice as much.

“Yeah,” says Pigunaika, “so you’re also reproaching me!” Do you want me to go fishing for you? I see that you want to quarrel with me!

“I don’t want to quarrel, wife,” says Churka.

- No, you want it! - says the wife. - If I saw a red berry in a dream, there will be a quarrel!

- I don’t want to! - says Churka.

- No, you want it!

- Don't want!

- But if you want, I can see it in your eyes!

- Wife! - says Churka, raising his voice.

- Oh, so you started yelling at me? - says Pigunaika, how about hitting her husband on the forehead with a ladle!

Chock is quiet and quiet, and when a lump the size of a fist appeared on his forehead, he got into a fight.

They grappled.

Pigunaika shouts:

- There will be a quarrel!

- Don't be!

- No, to be!

- No, don’t be!

The noise was no worse than the snowstorm when Pigunaika saw the deer in her dream. Neighbors came running from all over the village. The men are dragging Churka, the women are holding on to Pigunaika. They dragged and dragged, but they couldn’t separate me. They began to carry water from the river, and began to pour that water on the husband and wife.

“Uh, wife,” says Churka, “wait!” Apparently our roof is leaking: it’s raining!

They separated them.

Churka sits and counts the cones. Pigunaika is sitting, tearing her swollen eyes with her hands.

- What's happened? - their neighbors ask.

“Nothing,” says Pigunaika. “I just had a dream that I was picking a red berry.” This is a sure sign - a quarrel!

Who, if not her, should know: I saw a red berry in a dream and quarreled with my husband!
