There lived a Hasid who went to the rebbe every year for a holiday. He didn’t live nearby—it was a week away. His neighbor was surprised:
-What is the point of your journey? If you need a rabbi, we have one in our city. And you waste time on the road, which could be more usefully spent studying the Torah.
“When I go to the rebbe, I gain the ability to read the thoughts of other people,” the Hasid answered.
The neighbor was surprised:
- That can’t be true! Come on, tell me what I'm thinking about?
“About God,” says the Hasid.
- But that’s not true! - the neighbor exclaims jubilantly.
- Oh, not about God? That's why I prefer to go to the Rebbe.
