One day a traveler named Kadirvel was walking from one village to another. Having walked halfway, he saw a beautiful grove. In the middle of the grove grew a lush mango tree with widely spread branches. Its branches and leaves were so densely intertwined that not a single ray of the scorching sun penetrated this living curtain.
After a long journey, Kadirvel was tired and, although he did not have extra time, he could not resist resting a little under the green cover. Finding himself under the crown of a giant mango, he crouched down at its trunk.
It was so good here! The gentle trills of birds hiding in the foliage from the midday heat could be heard; From time to time a cool breeze blew in, caressing and refreshing the body.
Kadirvel wanted to lie on his back for a while. He lay down on the grass carpet, put his hands behind his head and began to look at the mango tent. First his gaze touched the branches.
“Yes,” he thought, “how wonderful they are! How nice it is to look at them! And these tiny fruits! They are wonderful too! Probably, whoever created this tree intended them specifically for birds, of which there are so many here. Yes, the creator, apparently, was not stupid.”
Kadirvel stretched his legs, stretched his whole body and thought again. “But if, for example, I had been entrusted with this task, I would have done it wrong,” he continued to reason. “Such a huge tree and such tiny fruits!” After all, they are almost the same size as apples. In fact, it feels like the creator didn’t finish something here. Here, for example, is a coconut tree. Although she is tall, she seems small in comparison with this giant. And her shadow is so tiny that even one person cannot hide in it. And at the same time, the nuts of the palm tree are huge, almost as big as a man’s head. Or a pumpkin: its stem is very thin, weak, and its fruit is almost the size of a house. Yes, the creator, apparently, still doesn’t think well!”
This is the conclusion Kadirvel finally came to. Pleased with his intelligence and the fact that he had found absurdity in nature itself, he grinned and fell asleep sweetly.
Suddenly something hit him painfully on the forehead. He shuddered, opened his eyes and jumped up. Beside him lay a mango fruit. Nothing special happened: this fruit just fell off the branch and fell on his head.
Kadirvel scratched the bruised area, put the fruit in his palm and looked at it gratefully.
“It’s so good that he’s so small! What would happen if it turned out to be the size of a coconut?! I wouldn’t sit here anymore, not admire the beauty of nature. No, apparently, nature still knows what it’s doing!” - he thought.
He stood up, brushed himself off, took another look at the small mango and went on his way.
