It was a long time ago. So much time has passed since then that where the rivers flowed, there are high mountains, where the stones lay, forests have now grown there.
A tiger began to come to the village of Bak-tor every night. Over the course of several nights, many dogs disappeared. As soon as night fell, the dogs began to howl loudly. People were afraid to go out
home. Then the residents of Baktor began to consult what to do with the tiger. Some said:
- You can’t live like this any longer! If we are afraid, the tiger will drag all our dogs for food, and then he will start attacking people. We need to catch him and kill him. But how to kill?
Everyone is afraid of the tiger. And then the son of Tungu Alchik, the brave, brave young man Kirba said:
- I'm not afraid of the tiger. He has done so much wrong, he needs to be killed. I will kill!
People thought: “Kirba is in vain to brag, he will never be able to kill a tiger.”
The next morning, Kirba got up early, took a spear and followed the tracks of the tiger into the taiga. He looked around and saw a tiger sneaking towards him. Kirba was not at a loss. He quickly climbed a tree with thick branches. As soon as he climbed the tree, the tiger jumped and got stuck in the dense branches - neither here nor there. Kirba jumped from a tree to another and went down. He grabbed his spear and threw it at the tiger with all his might. So Kirba killed the tiger.
He cut off his long striped tail and went to his village. Kirba came home, and people were already packing things into boats.
Kirba says:
-Where are you going? The tiger won't come again! The oldest one said:
“Young man, you don’t know the law: when a tiger comes once, it will come again and again.” Whatever you do, we cannot escape death!
Then Kirba took out the striped tiger's tail from his bosom and showed it to everyone.
“So I cut off the tiger’s tail and said: he will never come here again.” I killed him!
This is how the brave Kirba saved his village from a tiger.
