They say that once upon a time there lived three bulls: black, white and red. One day, exhausted from hard work in the field, they decided to leave their owner to where lush grass grows and there is fresh water.
They settled in freedom and lived well. And gradually their fur became smooth, their horns sharp, like spears; in speed and agility they were not inferior to wild animals. And in order to protect themselves from attacks by predators, they agreed to do everything in turns: alternately graze and drink water, alternately guard each other during sleep.
One day the bulls met a lion. The lion was frightened by their sharp horns, but did not show it, approached the bulls and said:
- I want to give you some friendly advice. Now, when I was walking along this slope, I mistook the white bull for a white tent, the black one for a black tent, the red one for a shamma (Shamma is a type of clothing; it is a piece of cloth thrown over the right shoulder and wrapped around the body.)
“I think it would be better for the white bull to go where white grass and white trees grow on white ground; he would not be noticeable there. It would be better for you, black bull, to go where black grass and black trees with black leaves grow on the black earth - you would merge with them. And for you, red one, it’s best to be where red flowers, red grass and red trees grow on red soil. Then not a single predator would have noticed you.” And the lion pointed out where each of them should go.
The trusting bulls went where the lion directed them. And he, as soon as he saw that the bulls had dispersed in different directions, set up an ambush and tore them all to pieces in turn.
Before listening to advice, find out who is advising - a friend or an enemy.
