The peasant had a hearty lunch at the butter house, and a terrible thirst attacked him, but he had no money with him. Fortunately, a neighbor comes and carries a full bottle of wine from the tavern. The thirsty man followed him and said:
“You know, I’m so thirsty that I’m ready to drink a whole bottle of wine in one breath.”
“Well, you can’t do it with just the spirit,” says the neighbor.
“Let’s take a look,” the peasant suggests. “If I don’t drink, you can spit in my face.”
“He’s coming,” the neighbor answers.
He gave him a full bottle, and he blew out more than half. He got drunk and said:
- Thanks for giving me something to drink, now you can spit on me.
“But in my opinion, it’s not I who should spit in my face, but you, since I turned out to be such an ass,” answered the neighbor and, sighing, wandered home with the half-empty bottle.
