Mulla Nasreddin's son returned from university. There he studied logic and became a “great philosopher,” as everyone is inclined to think in their youth.

The son, like every university graduate, was very interested in demonstrating his knowledge. They were sitting at the table, and the mother brought two apples. Seeing a good opportunity, the Mulla's son said, “Mother, I will show you what I have learned. What do you see on this plate?

Mother said: “Two apples.”

He said, “No, logic says something else. There are three apples here, not two.”

The poor mother looked again, but there were two apples. She said, "What do you mean?"

The son replied: “Look. This apple is one, this apple is two. What is one plus two?

Mother said: “Of course, one plus two makes three.” The son was very happy. Mulla Nasrudin watched all this. He said, “Okay, very good. I'll eat the first, yours, mother - the second. You’re eating the third one.”
