At night, thieves broke in on Afandi. No matter how much they searched, they found nothing in the room except an old chest. With difficulty lifting this heavy chest, the thieves carried it out of the house.
Having reached some ruins, they decided to divide the contents of the chest. When they lifted the lid, they saw a man covering his face with his hands. Having forcibly torn his palms from his face, the thieves recognized Afandi.
- Why are you hiding your face? - the thieves asked.
“I hid in the chest,” replied Afandi, “because I am very ashamed in front of you for my poverty!”
