There must be a road

Everyone knows how hardworking a squirrel is. From morning to night she worked in her field and grew a wonderful harvest. She was so busy that she did not even bother to pave the way to her field, but got there by simply jumping through the trees.

And it so happened that a spider was hunting in these places. He saw a squirrel field where the harvest was already ripe, and he liked it very much. He looked for the way to the field, but did not find it - and an insidious plan immediately matured in his cunning head.

The next day the spider returned to the field along with his entire family, and they began to make their own path to it, covering it with cobwebs so that it seemed as if they often used this road. Then the spider family began to pick up the mature ears of corn and carry them away. A squirrel caught them doing this.

- Who allowed you to harvest from my field? - she screamed indignantly.

- From your field? - asked the spider. - Why do you call this field yours?

“Because I worked on it,” answered the squirrel. “I cleared the plot, I cultivated it, sowed it and took care of the harvest. And now you come and want to pick him up. This is my field.

“Then show me where your path to him is,” said the insidious spider.

“I don’t need a road,” answered the squirrel, “I can jump through the trees.”

- Oh, that's how it is! Where have you heard that someone doesn’t build roads to their fields? - the spider retorted contemptuously.

Belka took the case to court. But the court decided that there cannot be a field to which there is no road. And since the road was undoubtedly paved by a spider, it means that the field belongs to him.

The spider and his family collected the entire harvest and took it to the market to sell. On the way, they were overtaken by a terrible storm. They abandoned their luggage on the road and ran away to seek shelter from the downpour. As soon as the storm passed, they returned to the road - and what did they see there? A large black hawk sat on their property and, spreading its wings wide, sheltered it from the rain.

“Thank you, stranger, for protecting our property,” the spider told him.

- Yours? - objected the hawk. - Whatever the case! Where have you heard of such goods being left unattended in the middle of the road? Nonsense! This is my harvest, I am taking it to the market to sell. Be healthy, spider, and don’t try to be insolent to me.

Having said this, the hawk rose up, carrying the prey with it.
