It is said that on the wall on the inside of the arch in the Attar meditation hall were the words: “Preserved for the Sage Tamtim.” Sheikh Attar instructed his senior students to observe the behavior of newcomers when they saw this inscription. He predicted that everyone who behaved in a certain way would be able to develop their mystical abilities correctly and quickly; and all those who say or do other certain words or actions will leave on their own or will have to be denied training. He never asked his students how this or that newcomer behaved. But as the years passed, they noticed that things always happened as he predicted.

One day he was asked why he left this inscription on the wall. He said:

- To show those lacking subtle perception that outwardly insignificant signs of certain feelings can reveal inner abilities (or lack thereof) to one who knows how to test.
