The Wolf and the Donkey

The Wolf and the Donkey

One day a wolf wandered through the mountains. I haven’t eaten anything for three days, I’m completely hungry, my sides are sunken, my tail can barely drag on the ground. Suddenly he sees a donkey in a clearing at the foot of the mountain. He gathered his last strength and trotted there.

The gray donkey was grazing peacefully, nibbling grass.

“I’m lucky!” thought the wolf. “What a well-fed young donkey!” He ran up to the donkey and said:

- Hello, dear donkey! I'm so glad to see you!

“Hello, mountain wolf,” the donkey answered decorously. “It’s very nice to meet you!”

- How did you get here? — the wolf was surprised. “I haven’t seen you here before.”

I'm from the village. I went for a walk and ended up here. The grass in this clearing is very lush.

- It's good that you came here! I'm just dying of hunger. Now I'll eat you!

- What are you doing, mountain wolf! Don't eat me! - The donkey got scared and backed away from the wolf in fear.

- No, I’ll eat it!

- Don't eat, please! - the donkey begged.

- Do you want me to starve? I haven't eaten anything for three whole days!

Then the donkey resorted to a trick:

- How I feel sorry for you, mountain wolf!

- Of course, it’s a pity. This is another matter. This is the first time in your life that you have seen such a hungry wolf!

“And now you’re hungry, but if you eat me, so small, you’ll soon get hungry again - and you’ll scour the mountains and thickets to get food for yourself again!”
