A certain Gentile comes to Shammai and says:
“I will accept your faith if you teach me the entire Torah while I can stand on one leg.”
Shammai got angry and, swinging the elixir he had in his hand, drove the infidel away.
He went to Hillel. And Hillel converted him, saying:
“Do not do to your neighbor what you do not wish for yourself,” this is the whole essence of the Torah. Everything else is interpretation. Go and learn.
