To avoid feeling lonely, a husband and wife once bought a German Shepherd puppy. They loved him and cared for him as if they were their own son. The puppy quickly grew up and turned into a big, beautiful, smart dog. He saved property from thieves more than once, was faithful, devoted, loved and protected his owners.
A few years later, the couple had a long-awaited child. The man and woman were happy. However, caring for the baby took up almost all of their free time, so the dog no longer received the attention of its owners. The dog felt unnecessary and soon became jealous of the child’s owners.
One day, parents left their sleeping son in the house while they prepared for a barbecue on the terrace. When they went to check on the child, a dog came out of the nursery. There was blood all over his mouth, and he was wagging his tail contentedly. The child's father, assuming the worst, grabbed his gun and promptly killed the dog. Then he ran into the nursery and on the floor, near his son’s cradle, he saw a huge headless snake.
- I killed my faithful dog! — was all he could say, barely holding back his tears.
