He returned to his native place, having received a cow and a cloak as a reward for twelve months of work in Galway. When this poor man from Dal Cas learned that the famous Maclonin himself was in front of him, he asked him to compose a poem.
And Maklonin amazed his listener with a poem in honor of the Dal-Kasovites, for which he immediately received his entire twelve-month remuneration from the satisfied peasant.
But the peasant was rewarded a hundredfold by the equally proud and patriotic Dalkasites - for their loyalty to their fellow countrymen and generosity to the poet. When they learned of his deed, they greeted him with honor and presented him with ten cows for every quarter of his own cow.
