- People, help! My son is lost,” a mother shouted among the crowd at the fair.
- There will be! Who needs someone else's grimy boy! — the passer-by answered with a laugh.
- My son is the most beautiful, blue-eyed, tall, curly and slender. “I will give you a silver coin if you find my son,” the mother asked.
A passer-by spent half a day looking for a son for his mother. He brought different boys to her: tall and curly, slender and blue-eyed, beautiful as angels.
“No, not that one, my son is much better,” the mother repeated in tears.
Evening came. The mother was in despair. Suddenly the hay on the nearest cart began to move, and a thin, grimy boy crawled out from under it.
- Oh, my grief! “He got all dirty, he tore his clothes, he scared me,” the mother screamed. Grabbing the boy, she began to shake the straw from his clothes.
“I ate all the gingerbread and wanted to sleep,” the boy lisped, because he had no front teeth.
- Woman, why did you deceive me? - the passer-by asked angrily. “I was looking for a handsome guy, not such a scruffy guy.”
“You’re a little kid yourself,” the mother frowned.
“Pay for making me run around the fair in vain,” demanded the passerby.
Here the old man intervened in the conversation:
— In the eyes of the mother, the fragile cub is a beautiful gazelle. Didn't your mother think you were the best child in the world?
The passerby laughed and walked away.
