One day a miser was sitting in the courtyard of his house and eating cakes with honey. A man was passing along the street and called out to him. The miser had to invite a passerby into the house out of politeness.
He hastily hid the cakes, but did not have time to remove the honey. So the honey remained in sight. “It’s okay,” the miser thinks, “he won’t eat just honey without cakes.” And he himself says to the guest:
- Yes, you eat honey if you like it.
“Thank you,” the guest answers, “honey is a good thing.” How can you not love him!
And he began to gobble up the honey, praising its extraordinary taste.
“Yes,” the miser squeezed out, “honey tastes really good.” Just don't eat too much, or your heart will hurt.
“That’s right,” the guest grinned, “your heart will hurt.” But whose? Yours?
