Once upon a time there was a gentleman. One day he went into the field to see how his peasants were working. A devil came across him, asked what business he was going on, and tagged along with him. As they walk, they see a peasant plowing not far from the road. He plows and scolds his little horse:
“Damn you, you can’t pull the plow, even if you harness it yourself.”
The master says to the devil:
- Do you hear, he wants you to take the horse. The devil answers:
“He did it out of spite, not from the heart.”
They move on. Elsewhere, a peasant family sows: mu-
A little guy with a basket is walking around the paddock, his wife is harrowing behind him, and a small child under a bush is crying.
“He yells all day without stopping, the devil would take him!” the mother grumbles at the child.
Master draws the line again:
- Do you hear, he wants you to take the child. The devil answers:
- No, she won’t give up the child, but she only says it to intimidate.
And that’s right: the mother stopped the horse, walked up to the child, took him in her arms and began to kiss him.
The master and the devil walk further, and they see the master’s servants working in the field.
- Oh, damn it, he showed up again! - said one of
them, seeing the master.
- Do you hear? “This has already been said from the heart,” said the devil,
grabbed the master and dragged him away.
