A long time ago there lived two brothers - the main gods Sukuyum and Nohotsakyum. The more powerful of them was the eldest - Sukuyum. It was he who decided that the youngest needed to have his own home.
The youngest, Nohotsakyum, had to build himself a separate house. He made it in the shape of a ball. This is our Earth. Sukuyum, who controls earthquakes and volcanoes, began to live inside this ball. All evil people, murderers, thieves, and liars end up here after death. They have a hard time there: Sukuyum punishes them for all the evil that they have ever caused to anyone with hot metal.
People live on the surface of the ball. This world was created by Nokhotsakyum. First the Earth appeared, then water, then the Sun, Moon and stars. Plants arose in this order: corn, bananas, garlic, beans, sugar cane and many others. The last ones were fruits.
Only after everything on Earth was ready for human habitation did Nohotsakyum create man. Here, too, there was a sequence: monkey people, boar people, jaguar people, pheasant people and many, many others. God sculpted them from clay, which he then burned at the stake. The clay hardened from the fire, and people came to life. Then God decided where and which people should live.
Animals (from jaguar to deer), birds (from pheasant to turkey) and other living creatures were created in approximately the same way.
Nohotsakyum and his wife Naynohotsakyum, as well as good people who died a natural death, and various saints live in heaven. There they have land, roads, trees - everything is like ours, only there are no animals and poultry. When the end of the world comes and everyone is eaten by a huge jaguar, people will also go to heaven and live like Nohotsakyum, and there he works in his field, sown with corn, smokes cigars, eats tortillas and beans.
