In one state the king fell ill. No medicine helped him, and the doctors had completely lost hope for his recovery. Then the wise men came to the royal castle and gave the following advice:
“We need to find a person who has nothing more to desire.” As soon as the king puts on that man’s shirt, the disease will disappear.
Messengers were immediately sent to all corners of the country to look for a man who was satisfied with everything in the world. The messengers traveled all over the land, mountains and valleys, and nowhere could they find such a person - one was missing one thing in life, another - another, in a word, everyone lacked something for complete happiness.
And finally, in a distant, wonderful country, the messengers came across one merry fellow - he drank wine, sang songs and was never sad. The messengers ask the merry fellow what he is happy about. And he whistled in response, slammed his fist on the table and said:
“Why shouldn’t I be happy, I’m happy with everything in God’s world and I don’t want anything else for myself!”
The messengers were delighted to have met the lucky man and exclaimed:
- Come with us to our king, you will be rich!
And the merry fellow answered them:
- Rich? Why do I need wealth? My wealth is enough for me! I'm not going anywhere!
With great difficulty, the messengers pushed the lucky man into the carriage and brought him to the king. And the king is on his last legs.
The courtiers surrounded the happy man:
- Hurry up and take off your shirt!
And he stared at them and shook his head.
- Take off your shirt! Hurry up and take off your shirt! - the courtiers shout in unison.
Imagine their amazement when it turned out that the lucky man did not have a shirt on his body. And so the poor king died. And all because in the whole wide world there was not a person who had nothing to desire.
