The king and the poor boy
Enlight

They say that one day King Mahmud overtook his retinue. Rushing on a horse at full speed along the river, he suddenly saw a little boy near the water, catching fish with a seine. The child seemed very unhappy. The king abruptly reined in his horse and, riding up to the boy, asked him:

- My child, why do you look so sad? I have never met a sadder person than you.

The boy replied:

- Your Majesty, we are seven brothers. Our father died, and we live with our mother in extreme need. In order to somehow feed myself, I come to the river every day and cast a net. If I don’t manage to catch a single fish during the day, I remain hungry at night.

“My son,” said the king, “if you don’t mind, I will help you.”

The boy agreed, and King Mahmud himself cast the net, which, at the touch of the royal hand, returned with a rich catch.
