Armenian parable One man came to visit his friend. The hosts threw a green-red ribbon at the guest’s feet and kept asking how it happened that he came, that he remembered the hosts.
- Well, wife, prepare the guest’s bed, order the chicken to be slaughtered, serve wine, make coffee, prepare dinner.
The wife laid out an Artsakh carpet decorated with roses for the guest, laid a mattress on top of the carpet, a blanket on top of the mattress and, finally, a pillow.
A day later the owners removed the pillow, two days later the blanket, three days later the mattress. On the fourth day, the guest began to say goodbye to the hosts and got ready to leave. The owners of the house asked:
- Why are you leaving us so early, what happened, how did we displease you, who offended you? Don't go, stay still.
The guest replied:
“You didn’t do anything bad to me, and I’m not leaving early.” I should have left when you removed the pillow.
