The feat of a peasant girl

At the beginning of the thirteenth century, Korea was attacked by an enemy army. All cities, all villages rose up to fight. They just couldn’t hold off the enemies.

We reached the westernmost capital - Pyongyang, surrounded and began to fire.

And then they took over the whole country. It is difficult to say how many heroes died in the courageous struggle. The barbarians killed people, robbed the people's property, and there were countless atrocities.

At that time, the daughter of a peasant lived in Pyongyang, did not have time to escape and ended up in a besieged city. She’s so good you can’t take your eyes off her, a real beauty. Her enemies noticed her and forced her to serve her commander.

But I must tell you that that girl was the only daughter. And so her father grieved, so lamented! And he decided to find his daughter at all costs. He made his way behind the fortress wall, walked around the city for a long time and finally learned from people that his daughter was a servant of the enemy commander. The father doesn’t know how to meet his daughter, he thought and thought and came up with an idea. He got some money, went up to the guard and said why he came. And the guard grabbed him and started interrogating him.

“It’s not for nothing that they say: I wanted to get rid of one lump, but I earned another,” the old man thought sadly. He began to explain to the guard, so politely, that he didn’t need anything, just to see his daughter.

The guard looks better. The old man pulled out some money and handed it to the guard.

The guard tells him:

“Our commander, as soon as it gets dark, sends your daughter to the well to bring him some cold water.” Until he drinks some water, he doesn’t go to sleep.

Go quietly to the well and wait. Your daughter will come.

The old man made his way to the well and began to wait. Around midnight, the door to the commander’s bedchamber opened, the girl came out of the door and went to the well. The old man called out to his daughter, but his voice was trembling.

The girl saw her own father, threw herself on his neck, crying.

- Abadi, how did you end up here? - asks.

[Abadi - father]

They stand there silently, unable to utter a word out of happiness. Daughter says:

- Wait for me here, father!

She went back to the bedchamber, suddenly she saw the old man - he was coming again, carrying a small box. She brought it and said to the old man:

“I thought I’d die without seeing you.” And I saw you - now I’m not afraid of anything.

She gave the box to her father, it contained jewelry and government papers, and told her to quickly return home and hand the box over to the Korean military leader.

The old man can’t bear to part with his daughter, but nothing can be done, he hugged his daughter tightly goodbye and hurried out the gate.

In the morning there was a commotion in the enemy camp: the commander’s box with jewelry and government papers disappeared, and the beautiful servant drowned in the well. Surely this was the work of Koryo intelligence, the enemies decided. They not only stole the box, but also drowned the servants in the well. Then the enemies realized that it was a simple peasant girl who had accomplished this feat. The entire people of Koryo rose up against the conquerors.

The enemies got scared, lifted the siege from Pyongyang, and retreated to the north.
