The fate of the jug

The fate of the jug
Enlight

A small earthenware water jug stood on the table. In the corner of the room, a sick man lay on a bed, tormented by thirst. "Drink! “Drink…” he asked every minute. But his relatives went away on business, leaving him alone.

The patient’s plea was so pitiful that even the jug could not stand it. He was filled with compassion and, making incredible efforts, rolled up to the patient’s bed, stopping right next to his hand. The patient opened his eyes, and his gaze fell on the jug. This sight filled him with amazement and relief. Gathering all his strength, the patient lifted the jug and pressed it to his hot lips, but only then realized that the jug was empty!

The patient spent his last strength on throwing the jug at the wall. It shattered into useless pieces of clay.
