In the old days, and to this day, it was a custom in the country to keep vigil over the dead, and this was usually done in the light, if the night was not very bright.
One day, a certain sorcerer of ancient origin and evil disposition died. Few would want to stay awake over his body. However, this was decided by a man who was very strong and brave.
He managed the vigil successfully. The night before the body was to be laid in the coffin, shortly after dawn, the lights went out. Then the corpse stood up and said:
- The darkness is funny.
The watchman replied:
“You won’t take advantage of this,” and said the following verse:
Little candlelight
but the darkness is finite,
The candles go out, but you are just dust,
shut up - forever.
Then he jumped on the corpse and laid it on his shoulder blades. And the rest of the night it was calm there.
