The cry of the Shirin people

Aldar Kusa settled in the village of Shirin and began making shoes there.

Somehow he sits in a shady place and nails the sole. He looks at all the Shirinsky bais on their carts and going somewhere.

“Hey, respectable bais, where are you going?” Aldar Kusa called out to them.

“We’re going on a pilgrimage to sacred places in Bogo-uddin,” the bais say, “there’s a holiday there today in honor of the saint, come with us, take a walk, see the world, show yourself.”

Aldar Kusa put his hammer and apron aside, climbed into the cart and drove off.

How long they traveled, you never know, but they arrived in Bogouddin, the landmark of which in the old days, as you know, was a mausoleum with the grave of a saint.

People gathered for the holiday, apparently and invisibly.

The bais chose a more convenient place, left Aldar a Kusa to look after the carts and horses, and they themselves went to the mausoleum to pray.

Before leaving, they pooled together rice, carrots, lamb, onions and everything needed for pilaf and said:

“You are here, while we offer a prayer to Allah Almighty, prepare everything for the pilaf: chop wood, light the fire, clean the cauldron, cut the meat and onions.”

“Here, Aldar Kusa,” Aldar Kusa said to himself, “you took a walk, and saw the world, and showed yourself to people.”

But there was nothing to do, he began to prepare everything for pilaf.

Aldar Kusa began to cut the onion and tears flowed from his eyes.

He cuts onions and cries.

Then the bais returned, saw that Aldar Kusa was crying and became alarmed.

“Eh,” the bais thought, “Aldar Kusa is such a cheerful fellow, but here he sheds tears. It's not for nothing that he's crying. There's a reason."

The bais approached Aldar Kusa and began to interrogate him:

- Hey, Aldar Kusa, you are always joyful and happy, why are you crying?

Aldar Kusa wiped his eyes with his hand, and the tears flowed even more.

“I remembered the dead,” he answered, “I feel sorry for

It’s become, so I’m crying.

We looked at the crying Aldar Kusu bai. One cried, the other cried. Everyone started groaning. They sit, shed tears, and forget about the fact that they need to cook pilaf.

People around started asking:

- What happened? Why do the Shirin bais cry?

The smart ones answered:

- Eh, no other way, some respected person in the village of Shirin died. The Shirinsky bais found out, so they mourn him.

Curious people approached the crying Shirin residents and asked:

- Hey, honorable ones, hey, respected ones. Did someone die in Shirin that you are moaning and crying so much?

“Eh,” the Shirin residents were surprised, “did anyone die in Shirin?”

- Of course, someone died if you are shedding tears. The bais looked at each other in fear:

- Vai, hear, friends, someone died here in Shirin.

“Leave,” the people told them.

The Shirin bais roared, screamed, screamed, climbed into the carts like frightened jackdaws, drove the horses and rode crying to their village Shirin.

So they threw everything away and didn’t cook the pilaf.

Let them ride and shed tears, and you listen about Aldar Kusa and pilaf.

Aldar Kusa finished cutting onions and stopped crying. Look, the bais have left. What to do?

Aldar Kusa lit a stronger fire under the cauldron, melted the lard and prepared pilaf for forty people.

He sees that he can’t eat so much pilaf. He stood near the boiler, rattled an iron slotted spoon and started shouting:

- Ready! Ready! The pilaf is ready. The pilgrims came running.

Aldar Kusa sold thirty-nine bowls of pilaf, ate the fortieth bowl himself and went to his home in the village of Shirin.

He walks along the road, sings songs, and jingles silver money in his pocket.

Let him go, and you listen about the bais.

The Shirinsky bais drove hastily and moaned and cried all the way. They moaned and cried so loudly, as if they were mourning a dead man.

From afar in the village of Shirin, people heard the howl and cry of the warriors. Everyone was alarmed. They thought: “Probably one of our people interrupted their life path during the pilgrimage.”

“Wai,” the Shirin people shouted, and everyone started beating their chests and crying.

When the bais entered the village and heard that everyone was crying, they finally decided that someone had really died and began to cry even louder.

The entire village of Shirin cried and moaned, and everyone cried and moaned the more because they could not find out the cause of grief.

So, perhaps, the people of Shirin would have grieved until today, but, without haste, Aldar Kusa slowly came to the village.

He sat down in his place, put on an apron, took out a hammer and started nailing the sole. He hears everyone crying.

“Hey,” he shouted, “why are you crying, who died or what?” The bai looked at each other and were surprised: why are they crying?

Nobody knew.

Well, of course, they stopped crying.
