There lived one poor half-chicken. One day he was walking along a high road and his foot was stabbed by a thorn. Half a chicken came to the baker and asked: “Help me, pull the thorn out of my leg.” The baker pulled out the thorn and threw it into the oven. The next day, half a chicken comes to the baker and says: “Give me back my thorn.”
And the thorn has long been burned in the oven. “Give it back, but no, then give me good, fresh bread, otherwise I’ll destroy everything here!” - half the chicken screams. What to do? The baker gave him bread.
Half a chicken goes, carries bread and rejoices. He sees the shepherds sitting, they have milk, they are pouring milk, but there is no bread. He gave them half a chicken of his bread. “Here is fresh bread, eat.”
The shepherds rejoiced, and half the chicken waited until they had eaten all the bread, and said: “Give me back my bread, otherwise, choose me the best ram, otherwise I’ll destroy everything here.” What was to be done? The shepherds gave him a ram.
Half a chicken goes, leads a big, fat ram and rejoices. Sees: wedding. He came up and looked - they had knocked down a skinny donkey and were slaughtering it. Half a chicken screamed: “Why are you cutting the donkey?” Take my ram! The people were happy, they took his ram and slaughtered it. We celebrated the wedding, had fun, and half a chicken said: “Give me my sheep back.” How can we give him back? “But no, then give me your bride, otherwise I’ll destroy everything here!” They gave him the bride.
The half-chicken leads the beautiful bride and rejoices. He sees a young man sitting and playing something on a pipe. Half the chicken liked the pipe, he approached the young man and said: “Give me the pipe, take my beautiful bride for her.” He took the pipe, climbed a tree, sat on a branch, blew into the pipe and sang:
I exchanged a thorn for bread, I gave the bread and received a ram, I exchanged a ram for a beauty, and I gave her for a melodious pipe!
