A certain Shirinets had a white donkey with a long fluffy tail and a thick mane. “What can you do, we need to sell it!” — the Pshrinets was forced to decide one day. And on the night before the Vobkand bazaar, I washed the donkey clean, washed it especially carefully with soap, and even combed its beautiful tail, capable of attracting the attention of buyers, with a fine comb.
But, unfortunately for the Shirinets, it rained heavily at night, and the road from the village to the Vobkand bazaar became sticky and muddy.
Shirinets became thoughtful: “If I take the donkey to the market, then its washed and combed tail will lose all its beauty from dirt. I can’t wait for the next market day - I don’t have a penny. What should I do?
At dawn, the Shirinets went to the sage.
“What’s the matter?” he asked, awakened by a sharp knock on the gate.
- I ask you for advice on how to bring a white donkey to the Vobkand market without getting its tail dirty? The road became very muddy after the rain...
“Are you really not smart enough even for that?” - the sleepy sage responded and added: - Just cut off his tail and put it in the khurjin, get in and go. And I’m more than sure that not a single drop of dirt will fall on your donkey’s tail!
Having thanked him for the advice, the overjoyed Shirinets wandered home, scolding himself for his stupid slow-wittedness.
At home, the Shirinets did everything as the sage advised him and went to the market.
There he was surrounded by buyers. Each one examined the donkey, felt its legs, measured its hooves and leaned on it with all its weight, testing the strength of its spine. The donkey passed all the tests.
One of the buyers said:
- The donkey is good, but it’s a pity that his tail is cut off! With a smile, the Shirinets calmly answered:
- Bargain, brother, but don’t worry about your tail, it’s in Khurjin!
