Stupid son-in-law

Stupid son-in-law

In ancient times, there was a son-in-law in one village. Once, they say, he came to visit his father-in-law and mother-in-law. The mother-in-law prepares rice and seasoning and has a conversation with her son-in-law. And so the evening came.

Well, the old woman prepared the seasoning from fresh bamboo shoots. She cooked it, brought water for my son-in-law to wash his hands before eating, and placed a chair for him near the door. He washed his hands, went back into the house and sat down on a chair, and his mother-in-law served him rice with seasoning. The son-in-law eats and thinks - meat seasoning; I’m only surprised that I don’t come across any pieces of meat. So he asks his mother-in-law:

“Listen, mother, what did you make this seasoning from?” I can't make out something.

Well, behind him there was a bamboo door. The mother-in-law says:

“Look around, son, you’ll see what I made the seasoning for you from.”

He turned back and saw a bamboo door. He looked at her and said nothing. The old woman didn’t add anything either.

And the son-in-law thinks: “The seasoning is delicate, it couldn’t be better. I’ll wait until everyone is asleep and then I’ll take the door with me.” That's what he thought.

And indeed, they ate and went to bed. He waited until everyone had fallen asleep, quietly stood up, untied the door - it was on rope hinges - and, without waiting for the morning, he threw it on his back and walked away. And all this without anyone noticing.

In the morning, the family's in-laws woke up with the roosters and looked: the door was nowhere to be seen. They started calling my son-in-law, but he didn’t respond.

“Look where the son-in-law is,” they say. - Why doesn’t he respond?

We looked everywhere - there was no son-in-law. Here the old woman laughs as much as she wants. Daughters ask:

-What is it, mother, you laugh like that? The old woman tells them:

“But most likely, daughters, it was your sister’s husband who ran away from our door.” Yesterday I gave him rice with bamboo shoot gravy. He asks me: “Listen, mother, what did you make this seasoning from? I can’t make out something.” And I’ll take it and say: “Look around, son. You will see what I prepared the seasoning for you from.” That's probably why he dragged the door away.

They heard this, laughed for a long time and said:

- Our son-in-law is so stupid.

And indeed, this fool, as soon as he came home with the door, immediately broke it, chopped the sticks into small chips and said to his wife:

“Make some seasoning for me today.”

-What kind of seasoning will you make from this? – the wife was surprised. – Is it really possible to eat dry bamboo? Is it conceivable? Well, you're stupid.

– Not at all, it’s very tasty, this bamboo. Yesterday I went to see your relatives. Your mother prepared a seasoning from it and treated it to me. Believe it or not, I'm just saying, I thought it was meat gravy. That's why I took this door away quietly; They themselves wouldn’t give it to me.

“Who will eat these dry wood chips if you force me to make seasoning from them?” - asks the wife.

“Okay,” he says. “If others don’t want it, prepare one for me.”

Since he didn’t want to listen to her, she actually made a seasoning out of these wood chips and served it to him with boiled rice. So he poured a little broth onto the rice, mixed it well with his fingers and filled his mouth full, and his wife stood and watched. He didn’t really like the rice with this water, so he fished out a piece of bamboo and began gnawing on it. His wife sees how hard he is trying - he bites the piece of wood, and couldn’t help but laugh. Here he himself laughed.

“Well, you made some gravy,” he says. “You don’t know how to cook it, it doesn’t taste good.” How did you manage to undercook the sticks? Your mother, in her gravy that she treated me to, boiled them so much that I couldn’t even find a piece. And you give me only uncooked pieces of wood. No matter how I chopped them up, they remained that way. You didn't cook them at all.

“I don’t know how to prepare such gravy,” the wife answers. - It’s better to cook for yourself,

He actually began to cook it himself, but he couldn’t boil it down. But everyone laughed at him. From then on they called him a fool and teased him a lot about it.

That's the end of the fairy tale. She's all here.
