One stupid boy fell madly in love with a girl. He asks his friend how he can get a girl to love him. Friend replies:

The guy went to church, knelt in front of the large decorated statue of St. Anthony and said:
“Oh, Saint Anthony, if a girl loves me, I’ll light you a candle like this,” and he showed with his hands what a large candle he would put, “three-quarters of a foot.”
He prayed and ran to the girl; began to ask her to love him. But the girl drove the guy away.
He went again to his friend and told how the girl drove him away.
Friend says:
- Go to church again and promise the saint
Anthony's candle is even bigger than before. You'll see, everything will be fine.
The guy came to the church again, knelt in front of the statue of St. Anthony and said:
“Oh, Saint Anthony, if she loves me, I’ll put you a candle like this,” and he shows with his hands which one, “one and a half feet tall.”
Then he went to the girl. But she didn’t want to look at him.
The next day the guy again went to his friend and said that the girl was still stubborn and that Saint Anthony did not help him.
Then the friend said:
- Listen, brother, this is what you do. Go to church again and tell Saint Anthony: if the girl doesn’t love me, I’ll beat you with a stick.
The guy obeyed, ran to the church and said to Saint Anthony:
“Saint Anthony, if you don’t make the girl love me, I will take a stick and smash you to pieces.”
The priest, who was in the church at that time, heard such words and was afraid. He took and removed the large statue of St. Anthony, and put a small one in its place.
And the guy went back to the girl; asks him to love him, but she doesn’t want to listen.
The guy got angry, took a stick and went to church. “Now, he thinks, I’ll beat up Saint Anthony.”
He enters the church and sees that there is no large statue, but instead there is a small one.
The guy was surprised and asked:
